Man killed at candlelight service
A 28-year-old man was shot and killed in the Sweden Street district in the George's Valley community of Manchester on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Teno Stewart. According to police, about 9:20 p.m., Stewart was at a candlelight service for a friend when a masked gunman pounced upon him and fired several shots. Stewart, who sustained gunshot wounds to the head and lower body, was rushed to the Mandeville Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His murder brings to 12 the number of murders in the parish since the start of the year. Eight murders were recorded for the corresponding period last year. Commander of the Manchester Police Division, Superintendent Lloyd Darby, is encouraging the general public to share the information they know that can assist the police. He said that there are various channels available for individuals to share information anonymously.
