Gun attack on taxi leaves two dead in St Andrew

A gun attack on a taxi in St Andrew has left two men dead and a woman and her child hospitalised with injuries.

The group of passengers were aboard the taxi which came under heavy gunfire about 8:30 this morning on Hilary Avenue, off Red Hills Road in St Andrew. 

The driver of the taxi was killed along with the man who was travelling in the front passenger's seat. 

Their identities have not been released. 

Residents heard loud explosions and summoned the police.

Both victims were found slumped over the front of the vehicle. 

Investigators are now at the scene. 

The roadway is also cordoned and traffic is being diverted.
