$10-m fraud at BK
The police have confirmed that five employees from the Burger King branch in Harbour View, Kingston have been arrested after an alleged fraud of almost $10 million was discovered.
The suspects, which includes a supervisor, are alleged to have fleeced $ 9.7 million over a three-month period from the company.
Superintendent Tommie-Lee Chambers, commander for East Kingston, confirmed that the suspects were taken in custody yesterday in connection with the multimillion-dollar fraud after a report was lodged.
The commander however said she was not sure of how the alleged fraud was commented.
But allegations are that the employees pocketed the funds after voiding orders that were legitimately placed by customers.
Restaurants Associates Limited of Jamaica which manages the Burger King franchise when contacted declined to comment.
The investigation which is currently being conducted by investigators from Harbour View Police Station is expected to be turned over to the Fraud Squad.
