Cops search for correctional centre runaways
A manhunt has been launched for the recapture of three juveniles who escaped the Rio Cobre Juvenile Correctional Centre at Tredegar Park, Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Saturday.
The three boys, a 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds, are charged with several offences.
The 16-year-old, who is from Westmoreland, is charged with unlawful wounding and robbery with aggravation. One of the 17-year-olds is also of a Westmoreland address and has been charged
with illegal possession of firearm and wounding with intent. The other 17-year-old is of a Trelawny address and has been charged with escaping custody. The names of the boys are being withheld due to the fact that they are minors.
Reports are that about 12:30 p.m., all three juveniles were coming from lunch when they escaped by jumping over a perimeter fence. The police are appealing to anyone with information on their whereabouts to contact the Spanish Town Criminal Investigations Branch at 876- 984-2874, police 119 emergency, Crime Stop at 311, or the nearest police station.
The police are reminding the citizens that it is an offence to harbour fugitives.
