Soldier jailed by lottery scam sleuths

A member of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) who returned to the island with the United States dollar equivalent of J$6.2 million was arrested by investigators assigned to the anti-lotto scam task force yesterday.

The soldier, whose name or rank has not been released, was arrested at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.

Reports are that about 1:30 p.m., the JDF member arrived on the island and was in the process of being checked by security personnel. During the routine checks, US$40,400 was found in his possession, which he could not give a plausible account for. He was subsequently taken into custody.
