Fowler bonding with daughter for holidays
Christmas is not just time of celebrate the birth of Jesus for Sunshine Girls captain Jhaniele Fowler, but also one that allows her to be with her daughter,.
Fowler, 32, plays for the West Coast Fever in Australia's Suncorp Super Netball, and has been travelling extensively with the Sunshine Girls team over the past six years. She says she is happy to be at home during the festive season to spend time with her 12-year-old and other family members.
"Christmas is one of my most memorable time of the year because I get to spend it with family," she said.
"It is also a feeling that I don't experience throughout the rest of the year because it is just different from all the rest of the days in the year.
"I am getting to spend a lot of time with my daughter and that is amazing. I just want to bond with her during this period because, as you know, I am always travelling and playing netball for either my country or my club."
But Fowler says that because of her busy schedule throughout the year, she has not spent much time in the kitchen, but Christmas is one period when she gets to cook for her family.
"As a professional athlete who is always travelling and playing netball, it is always good to be at home in the festive season to spend time with family and to share fun and laughter and to eat a lot of food that I don't get to eat when I am away," she said.
