Former daCosta Cup standout for Munro College and one of Harbour View's most instrumental players, Timar Lewis, has proffered that football means everything to him while also revealing his knowledge and love for the game.

"To be honest, football is my life as it's been around me since I've gotten understanding. My mother is a coach, and my brothers played the sport, so my life is centred around football. I know it. I love it. I understand it, and that's basically what football means to me. It's everything," he told STAR Sports at the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) press conference on Thursday at Bert's Auto Parts on Molynes Road, St Andrew.

Lewis, who has been with Harbour View since 2018 after switching from Sandals South Coast Football Club, reflected on his schoolboy football daCosta Cup experience and stated that it groomed his current leadership abilities, having to do numerous jobs for Munro's success.

"In comparison to what I see in the daCosta Cup today, in my time, it wasn't like that. It was a bit of a challenge for me as my school was more focused on academics, despite us having good players, so that was a struggle for me, but it helped me with my leadership abilities while having to do extra work and be versatile. If they wanted an attacking midfielder, I had to do that, if they wanted a left or right winger, it was me," Lewis stated.

The 25-year-old Lewis stated that priding himself on being a versatile player allows him to enjoy what other players offer. He added he loves watching Neymar, Messi, Zidane and Ronaldinho.

"I respect every player who has something positive to offer to the game. I can watch Neymar and enjoy the game, I can look at Messi's technique and also look back at Zidane or Ronaldinho, and so I have a lot of favourite players in terms of watching different aspects of their game.

"I'm a versatile player, so I understand their versatility. I enjoy watching players who can make an impact, which allows me to enjoy the game," Lewis shared.

Lewis argued that while he will do anything needed for the success of his team, he enjoys the attacking positions more.

"I'm a team player, so wherever my performances can benefit the team most, I will go out there and do that, but I enjoy scoring goals so, I rather the attacking positions a bit more," he said.
