Three accidents in Portland over 24- hours
St Margaret's Bay, Portland:
A motorcyclist was rushed to hospital yesterday after colliding head-on with a Toyota Corolla motor vehicle along the North Coast leg of Highway 2000 at St Margaret's Bay in Portland.
According to the police, about 7 p.m. three men were travelling in a Toyota Corolla easterly from St Margaret's Bay to Port Antonio, when upon reaching a section of the roadway, a motorcyclist heading in the opposite direction, but on the right hand side, collided with the car.
The motorcyclist, who is not yet identified, but is believed to be an American national, was hit and reportedly fell into nearby bushes, while his bike was discovered in bushes close to the sea.
The biker was rushed to the Port Antonio hospital, suffering from severe bleeding and several broken bones in both legs. He was admitted in a critical by stable condition.
This brings the number of crashes in the parish to three over a 24 hour period, as early Sunday morning two fatal accidents took place at Windsor Castle in the parish, resulting in the death of 24-year-old Rashane Williams and 31-year-old David Bailey.
The Hope Bay police are investigating.
