Grab his genitals hard, pull down, squeeze ... Lisa Hanna gives self-defence tips
"If he grabs you from behind try to stay calm and don't struggle. Swing your elbow backwards and use the back of your fist and hit him hard in his groin then grab his genitals hard, pull down, squeeze and twist like you want to detach/rip them from his body."
That is one piece of self-defence advice that Lisa Hanna has offered to women.
Hanna, a former youth minister, said that when a person is attacked it is not a time to be civil.
"In a physical confrontation that calls for self-defence, it’s hurt or be hurt," the South East St Ann Member of Parliament said.
Hanna, who has a black belt in karate, advised that after grabbing and squeezing the attacker's genitals, a person should attempt to inflict more pain and then seek to escape.
"If you still have strength, turn, and with all your force, take your knee and ram it into his genitals. Then run. If he has a gun run in a zig-zag," she advised.
Hanna, who has expressed the view that every woman should have some training in self-defence, said that before an attacker has gained full control, "you must do everything you can—conserving as much energy as possible—to inflict injury so you can get away."
"Aim for the parts of the body where you can do the most damage easily: the eyes, nose, ears, neck, groin, knee, and legs. Your elbow is the hardest part of your body so if you can, use it."
