Decapitated body identified
The decapitated body, which was discovered in bushes at Fern Hill, Portland on Tuesday, has been identified as that of Kevin Garfield Patterson.
Family members made the identification today by pointing to the initials 'KGP' that were tattooed on the right arm of the deceased, while alluding to other visible marks on the body.
Patterson, whose body was discovered in bushes, is a 38 year old resident and taxi driver of Alfred Lane in Port Antonio. He was last seen alive last Saturday by some of his colleagues.
Police sources said that Patterson’s motor car was found parked at his house.
On Tuesday the police discovered the partially decomposed and headless corpse of a man lying in the hilly interior of Fern Hill shortly after 6:30 p.m.
But two days of intense search for the man’s head by detectives from the Criminal Investigative Branch in Port Antonio bore no fruit.
The police have theorised he was killed elsewhere and the body later dumped in the Fern Hill area.
The parish has recorded five murders since the start of 2017, the same when compared to the corresponding period last year.
