Olaf Blackwood enjoys success on Billboard Dance Charts
Jamaican singer Olaf Blackwood is celebrating mainstream success, as his collaboration titled 'I Need You', with top-flight European EDM DJ Armin van Buuren and Lady Gaga's songwriter Fernando Garibay, recently peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay Charts.
The singer, who up to a few months ago was virtually unknown, said he's grateful for the song's success.
"Shaggy introduced me to Fernando Garibay, that's how the initial link was made. I kept on sending him my songs for a while until he invited me to his studio. I ended up writing several songs with him and Armin van Buuren. After recording some of the songs we wrote they decided to release I Need You, and as they say, the rest is history," Blackwood said.
GREAT OPPORTUNITY
He also added, "This a great opportunity for me. Before this song came out I was just out there recording and writing songs for other artistes, now my name is in the spotlight."
To date, I Need You has streamed on Spotify over 15 million times. A recently released remix of the song has already streamed over three million times on the same platform.
I Need You is currently number one on the Virgin Radio Hot 40 Charts in Romania.
Olaf Blackwood also has a number of shows in the pipeline.
