Best of the Best to show off strong female talent in 2020
For the first time in its 14-year history, the Best of the Best music festival’s first round listing has revealed a star-studded all female line-up.
The list includes some of the top female acts in the region’s entertainment industry from all genres.
The Queen of dancehall, Spice, heads the list, which also includes the likes of young reggae sensation Koffee, dancehall’s princess Shenseea, the iconic Tanya Stephens, legendary Lady G, and soca goddess Alison Hinds.
Dubbing 2020 the ‘Year of the Woman’, the festival’s publicist, Ronnie Tomlinson, expressed that event organisers have always wanted to strengthen female’s presence on its stage. She said the festival is delighted to have such strong women on for the next staging.
“In all areas, women are such a force to be reckoned with, especially this past year there has been no denying the power of women in Caribbean music, just look at the Reggae Charts,” she said. “It is unfortunate that often enough their presence isn’t more visible and highlighted. In addition to playing our part in giving more female artistes the stage, we at Best Of The Best wanted to make a statement by revealing our first round of an all-female artistes line-up.”
The event is scheduled to take place on May 24 at the Bicentennial Park in Miami and is hoping to build on its legacy and remain one of the largest and strongest Caribbean music festivals in North America.
Recognised and honoured in 2018 with a proclamation by the city of Miami, the one-of-a-kind music festival has each year welcomed a diverse community of record-breaking crowds from all over the world.
Tomlinson believes the festival has earned its reputation for being a hub for unforgettable live experiences.
