Zion Skye holding it ‘steady’

Reggae singer Zion Skye has made her official debut with the release of her first single, STEADY MEDi.

"This track is an ode to men and women, encouraging them to assert their responsibility to both themselves and others, to think and act positively, honestly, and to be wise. It also encourages you to work harmoniously and intently to reach your goals and turn your dreams into reality," the singer said.

The lyrics also pointedly address world issues, such as senseless killing, violence against women and children, hate crimes, and the impact of politics on social and economic growth and stability.

An accompanying music video, supported by strong and vibrant visuals, was released on the singer's YouTube channel prior to the song's official release in February, to much fanfare.

Though considered a newcomer to the music scene, Zion Skye is not a newbie to the art itself.

"I grew up singing in the church until my late teens, then by working in the industry, I started to pursue a career in music at age 20. However, I took a long break to complete studies and training in wellness and beauty, and within the year of 2018, I started pursuing my music again full-time," she said.

Now working on cementing a name for herself, her goal is to show the world what she's made of, while incorporating a fusion of reggae, dub and jazz into her sound.

"Let me just say that everyone is unique in their own way. My music is me, everything that is unique about me and how I see and feel the world within and around me from my lens," she said.
