Stylysh revives IG show
Dancehall artiste Stylysh is set to restart her Instagram (IG) show, which is centred around love, sex, and relationships. Last season's guests included the likes of Shauna Chin, Destiny Sparta, and Gaza Sheba, who spoke candidly of her sexual exploits with incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel.
Stylysh told THE WEEKEND STAR that with the show having already brought so much laughter to Jamaicans, she thought now was the ideal time to wheel and come again.
"With the pandemic and everything that is going on in the world right now, I figured as an entertainer, it would be nice to do programmes like these to keep a smile and a positive energy. A lot of people have lost their lives throughout this time, lots of people have been left unemployed, and I want to offer a sense of comfort and a sense of laughter to everyone," she said.
"The response so far has been very good. Di people dem did always love the show because we talk di tings; dem love how it did just real. That's what I think drew people the most. They loved how open we were in the discussions, and now, especially, people want that. They want something to keep their mind off what's happening around them, and what better way to do that than with content they can relate to?"
Having given birth to the idea of an IG show long before it became a thing, Stylysh considers herself a thinker ahead of time.
"A lot of people doing it now, which is good because most people are home and turning to the Internet for entertainment, but I was one of the first, and so trends were being set before now," she said. "I'm doing things a little more now because instead of once per week, we doing it two times per week, and we have incorporated giveaways as part of the show to keep our viewers in tune and to keep us in line with the competition."
