Tamara Wright-Martin, a psychiatric nurse at Bellevue Hospital, has found that musical inspiration can come from anywhere. In 2017 she penned the emotional track, Cry Out, which was released last November.

"I work at a mental illness facility, and I thought about what it meant to be mentally ill. So I asked several of my patients and they expressed how they felt to be mentally ill. Their explanations of how they felt were what encouraged me to write this song," she explained about the inspiration behind the song.

Cry Out is an inspirational song geared towards giving hope to those going through emotional turmoil.

"The feedback has been good. The track is relatable, but so many people were surprised while listening to it; the song is a blessing to so many," said the singer, who aims to inspire and uplift others through her music.

Tamara, a talented singer and writer, was born into a musical family.

"My father played the piano and the guitar, and he sang as well. From my schooldays, I was a member of the school choir, from high school to community college to NCU (Northern Caribbean University)," she revealed.

In addition, she participated in various national festivals and gospel competitions, such as Jamaica Cultural Development Commission and the Southwest Gospel Fest, which she entered in 2004 as a member of a group called The Redeemers. Now, she has decided to take the mantle and take a proper dive into the music industry, and getting her workmates involved.

"I started an initiative where I invite artistes, and both the staff and the patients got the opportunity to perform," she said.
