LA Benjamin eyes breakthrough

Reggae/dancehall artiste LA Benjamin is confident that his new single, ' Lock Dung', will give him the breakthrough he has been yearning for since he began deejaying 20 years ago.

The song, which was produced by Indeed Records and released late last year, is currently enjoying a huge buzz.

"I'm getting a lot of positive feedback about this song from my fans, both online and offline. Several industry insiders have also told me that they believe this will be my breakthrough single. My team and I also share this belief. Therefore, we are putting a lot of promotion behind it," said the artiste.

The singjay, who lists Buju Banton, Capleton, Queen Ifrica, Sizzla and Mavado among his musical influences, is currently working on several new projects for Indeed Records.

"Right now, I'm recording some more singles. I'm also recording tracks for my debut EP. Some of these new singles will be released later this year, but we haven't set a release date for the EP as yet," said LA Benjamin. He also said he would like to eliminate gatekeeping from the music industry.

"It's time for the gatekeepers to step away and free up the youth and let them shine. Over the years, too many talented artistes have been stifled by these people," he said.

LA Benjamin, given name Andrew Benjamin, hails from Leith Hall, St Thomas. He is a past student of Seaforth High School. He launched his recording career in 2022 with the release of a single titled Have Me, which was produced by Indeed Records. Some of his other songs are Love and Pass Through.
