The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP)  has announced that Dr. Kenneth Baugh underwent a successful brain surgery last Friday and is now recovering.

The surgery was performed by a team of Jamaican doctors at the University Hospital Of The West Indies (UHWI).

Last week, it was announced that Baugh was seriously ill and was scheduled to have an emergency brain surgery.

In a press release, the JLP hailed the team of doctors as they wished Baugh speedy and full recovery.

"Dr Baugh is a true champion of Jamaica and the JLP. We are happy that we have another chance at borrowing on his brotherhood, wisdom and courage," the statement said.

Dr Baugh who has been a long-standing member of the JLP as served as general secretary and chairman of the party.

He has also served Jamaica as health minister, foreign affairs minister, and deputy prime minister.

Earlier this year, Baugh announced that he would not return as the JLP's representative for the West Central St Catherine constituency in the next general election.

That seat has since been given to Devon Wint who defeated Christopher Tufton in an internal election.

However, Wint has since been booted as the constituency's representative, as JLP members call for Tufton to represent them in the next general election.
