School VP, daughter stabbed multiple times - Taken to hospital by attacker
The 46-year-old vice principal (VP) of a school in Portland, and her 18-year-old daughter were attacked and stabbed multiple times at their home in Fair Prospect in the parish yesterday morning.
But their attackers, upon realising they were at the wrong house, took the women to hospital where they were admitted.
The daring early morning drama occurred about 1:30, when two men entered the victims' home and demanded guns they claimed the VP's husband, who is also an educator, had.
It is understood that the attackers mistakenly believed the husband, who was not at home at the time of the incident, was involved in illicit activities, but upon realising they were at the wrong house, they reportedly used the VP's car to take the injured women to hospital.
The car was later found in Yallahs, St Thomas. The incident has reportedly left residents of the area and also the school community where the VP works in shock.
Superintendent Oberlin Smith-Whyte, head of the Portland police, said initial investigations have revealed that the attack is most likely a case of mistaken identity. "We are going into the area tomorrow (today) to find if there is anyone who may be involved in illegal activities. In doing this we might avert a murder," Smith-Whyte said.
