The police say they are following strong leads as they investigate a double shooting in Freetown, Clarendon, on Saturday night.

In the incident, a 35-year-old mechanic and his girlfriend, age 29, had to be rushed to hospital where they were admitted in stable condition following a shooting in an area called River Lane.

According to the police, about 9:50 p.m., both were at the shop when it is alleged that a man entered the yard through a gate, approached the couple, and opened fire hitting them.

The female received injuries to the chest and right shoulder, while the man sustained injuries to his shoulder and finger. They were assisted to the hospital by citizens. It is also said another man in a dark coloured car, also armed with a handgun, picked up the shooter and they fled the scene towards Salt River Road.

The police are also probing a robbery in the Longville Park Housing Scheme on Saturday night, where two men allegedly held up a bar and robbed patrons of cash, cell phones and other items. There have been no reports of injuries.

It is not clear if both incidents are related as the police are continuing their investigations.
