One dead, another injured in two separate shooting incidents

The Clarendon police are investigating two separate shooting incidents which has left one man dead and another nursing injuries.

In the first incident, which happened about 8:20 p.m. Thursday night, a 50-year-old labourer of Bullards Content was shot and injured by a lone gunman in his community.

Information received is that the victim was in the vicinity of his yard when he was pounced upon by a masked man armed with a handgun. It is further reported that the man opened fire on the labourer who managed to run from his attacker.

He subsequently discovered that he was shot in the right hand. An alarm was raised and the police arrived in time to take the injured man to hospital where he underwent surgery.

Later, about 2:50 a.m. Friday morning, 29-year-old Odane Wright was shot and killed by unknown assailants. Residents reported hearing loud explosions, sounding like gunshots, in an area of Effortville called Buzz Rock and summoned police.

Upon their arrival, Wright's body was found lying on its back in a pool of blood in his house with what appeared to gunshot wounds to the head and upper body.

Investigations continue into both incidents.
