Two men held for robbing downtown Kingston store

September 20, 2016

Two men were yesterday held in connection with the Monday morning robbery of a jewellery store in downtown Kingston.

Thieves struck at the Carousel on King Street early yesterday morning, making off with several items, including jewellery and liquor.

Police personnel realised the business place was robbed after noticing the open shutter and broken glass door. Further investigation also revealed that the electricity supply to the store was cut, thus allowing the crooks to enter the store and bypass the security system.

A probe was launched into the incident, and two suspects were nabbed later in the day in Jones Town, Kingston.

Reports are that they were found in a car with several items of jewellery, some of which they were wearing. One of the men also had cash and a receipt from the store.

The men are currently being questioned by the Kingston Central police.
