Missing man found dead
Faced with a murder toll of 12 violent deaths since the start of 2016, a wave of fear is now circulating among residents in Portland, following the discovery of the body of a man who was reported missing.
The decomposing body of 63-year-old Jacob Campbell was discovered wrapped in a blue tarpaulin at New Road on Tuesday. Campbell, a construction worker and businessman of Stanton in the Rio Grande Valley, was reported missing on November 10.
According to the police, shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, residents smelled a foul odour coming from bushes in a nearby gully at New Road and alerted them. The body of Campbell was found in an advanced state of decomposition and was removed to the morgue. A post-mortem is to be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Residents are maintaining that Campbell last spoke about going somewhere to do an estimate on a building on November 9, a day before he was reported missing.
The police are appealing to anyone with information that will be able to assist in their investigation to contact them in Port Antonio at 993-2546, 119, or at the nearest police station.
