Bail adjusted for businessman on fraud charge
A St Catherine-based businessman, who allegedly defrauded a man of almost $800,000 that he was given to purchase a motor vehicle, had his bail conditions adjusted when he appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court last Wednesday.
He is Allan Hall, a businessman of Victoria district in Linstead, St Catherine.
Hall, who is on $200,000 station bail, was told to surrender his travel documents. A stop order was also placed on him.
The allegations before the court are that in 2014, the complainant made contact with Hall when he wanted to purchase a vehicle.
It is said that Hall convinced the complainant that he could secure a Nissan motor truck for him for $795,000.
The complainant reportedly paid him US$5,000 plus J$220,000 to purchase the vehicle, which should have been delivered by June 2014.
After neither receiving the vehicle nor the money, the complainant contacted the police. Following an investigation, Hall was charged with fraudulent conversion.
Hall is being represented by attorney-at-law Don Foote, and is schedule to reappear in the St Catherine Parish Court on January 31.
