Mother charged for failing to report sex crime
The police have arrested and charged a St Catherine woman for allegedly failing to register a report in a sexual offence case, committed against her 13-year-old daughter last year.
Charged with failing to report to the registry, is Lerraine Mills 45-year-old labourer off Bog Walk, St Catherine.
When she appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court recently, her bail was extended until 2017 when the matter will again be mentioned.
The allegations are that in July 2016 the child was sexually assaulted by a man who was painting her house.
An investigation was launched by the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse which resulted in the man?s arrest.
He was charged with having sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16.
Mills, who even came to court and begged for the case to be dropped against the accused, was charged following an investigation.
She is to reappear in court on March 30 when the matter will again be mentioned.
