The Chapelton police are actively searching for a man who allegedly stole several heads of goats and eluded them in a spot check yesterday morning.

He is Marlon Chambers of a Trout Hall address.

Reports are that at about 5:30 a.m. yesterday, police, acting on information, intercepted a blue Toyota Hiace minibus, which is a registered public passenger vehicle, near Turners. While in the process of searching the vehicle, three large bags were discovered with the carcasses of eight goats stuffed inside.

By the time the passengers pointed out the owner of the bags, the man ran. The police said the man is known to them as this is not the first time that he is involved in such an activity.

He was taken before the courts on several charges of praedial larceny, but walked free each time.
