Approximately 60 residents recently from Mitchell Town in Clarendon benefited from a health and information fair, which was sponsored by bauxite/alumina company Jamalco.

Among the services offered were blood pressure and blood sugar checks, cholesterol, eye testing, hearing tests, BMI (body mass index) and general medical check-ups.

A team from Jamalco’s legal department provided advice on estate management and property issues.

Anika Rodriques, a lawyer, spoke to residents about the importance of making a will. She said that preparing a will is an important element of estate management.

“By making a will you can control how your property and affairs will be handled after you have passed,” she said.

Sheila Mills, a resident of Mitchell Town, expressed gratitude to Jamalco for staging the fair.

“There are many community members who needed the access to medical services but were are unable to do so because of financial challenges. We have not had a health fair in Mitchell Town for a while and we are grateful for what Jamalco has done,” she said.
