Men steal 19 phones from Digicel store
Two young men who admitted to breaking into a Digicel store and stealing 19 cellphones will have to wait until June 15 to have their fates decided in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
Orane Dacres, 23, and Anthony Guthrie, 26, both of Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, shop breaking and larceny.
Reports are that on April 18, at about 3:30 a.m., both men broke into the Digicel Store in Lawrence Tavern square and stole 11 Amgoo phones, three Logic M1 phones, two ZTE phones, and three Pixie phones, along with some chargers and earphones.
Following the incident, the store manager arrived at work to find the burglar bar at the glass door pried off, and the padlock on the grille broken. She further observed the store was ransacked.
The investigating officer indicated that based on evidence at the crime scene, the culprits either used a key or some other unlocking device to unlock the glass door, which was still intact.
Upon hearing the circumstances, judge Judith Pusey ordered a social enquiry report before the sentencing.
