Authorities to shut down Foreshore Road garage
A garage, which is being operated along Foreshore Road in Falmouth, Trelawny, is proving to be a nuisance to persons using the thoroughfare.
Falmouth's mayor, Councillor Colin Gager, said the Trelawny Municipal Corporation is prepared to shut down the operation.
"It is the duty of the municipal police to prosecute and for the corporation to order closure and ensure that the disabled vehicles be removed," said Gager. "There is an officer in charge of the municipal police and I plan to have a discussion with him about having the necessary action taken."
The Trelawny Public Health Department has described the disabled vehicles as unwelcome health hazards.
"They provide a home for rats and mosquitoes, which as you know, come with the abilities to transfer diseases. It is necessary for the threats to be minimised as much as possible," said Delroy Mowatt, an officer at the public health department.
