A St James man who admitted to assaulting a police officer during a search of his premises in June had his sentencing hearing put off until November 8.

The postponement took place when he appeared in the St James Parish Court last Friday.

Romario Gayle, of a Cambridge address, had previously pleaded guilty to assaulting a constable and using abusive and indecent language when he last appeared in court on July 18.

It is alleged that on June 15 at approximately 11 p.m., a police team was carrying out operations in the area when they came to Gayle's house and requested a search.

It is further alleged that Gayle then behaved boisterously and got into an altercation with one of the officers while saying, "You a one bad-mind boy, a something you a look fi thief."

He was subsequently arrested.

When the matter was mentioned on Friday, presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small told Gayle to return on November 8 as the court was preparing to take evidence in another case at that time.

His bail has been extended.
