Man stabbed to death with fork - Brother held in connection with killing
A man who allegedly attacked his older brother in his sleep and used a fork to fatally stab him in his neck at their home in Stony Hill, St Andrew, is now in custody of the police.
It is understood that arrangements are now being made for the man, who is in his 20s, to be questioned in the presence of an attorney, as investigators attached to the St Andrew North Criminal Investigation Branch carry out their probe into the circumstances surrounding the gruesome death of 36-year-old Damion Newell.
Reports from the Stony Hill police are that Newell, who is of a Longwall, Golden Spring Road, address in Stony Hill was stabbed to death by his brother at their home last Saturday.
The incidents reportedly occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m.
THE STAR gathered that Newell was asleep when his brother used the fork to stab him in his neck.
Residents reportedly heard a loud commotion coming from their house and went to make checks.
THE STAR was told that the suspect was seen standing over Newell, who was drenched in blood.
Man's throat
The police were summoned, and upon their arrival, the now deceased man was seen lying on his back in his bed.
Our news team was told that the murder weapon was still in the dead man's throat.
The suspect was handcuffed and removed from the premises. But this was not before some residents hit him several times.
THE STAR has learnt also that Newell and the prime suspect share the same mother, who has not been taking the news well.
Sources close to the family have informed THE STAR that their mother resides overseas and has been reeling since being told the tragic news.
"Right now, she nuh know how she a go manage. One son dead, and the next one a look pon prison time," a resident of the community told THE STAR.
When our news team visited the community last Saturday, residents were plunged into mourning.
A woman said: "We nuh know why it happen. Some people still in shock. Dem never live good still, and people have it say the big one always a tek set on the small one. We nuh know what transpire because persons see dem drinking the evening before. But you know when time people dead, you start hear things."
