St James racks up more than 50 murders in 120 days
Some 51 persons have been murdered over the course of the past 120 days in St James, police data indicate.
The latest persons to be killed have been identified as 74-year-old Evelyn Blair, of Lima district, 25-year-old Nicholas Forbes, otherwise called 'Leon', a labourer of Broadway in Rose Heights, and 37-year-old, Dayne Hall, otherwise called 'Ratty', a technician of Spring Mount in St James.
"The police are working with strong leads to apprehend those behind the recent strings of murders and shootings, but we are faced with dealing with too much repeated offenders," one senior crime fighter told the WESTERN STAR.
"When we assess the murders taking place in the parish, they are being committed by men who are already before the court, some on two counts of murder and some on triple shooting cases, yet these men have posted bail and continue to reign terror on the parish," the lawman added.
The officer said that of the 51 murders that have taken place in St James so far, at least 40 of these killings were carried out by men who were in police custody at some point in the past, and have being charged with similar crimes.
