Jamaica now has 471 cases of COVID-19, having recorded only two new positive cases in the past 24 hours.

Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Christopher Tufton made the announcement at a digital press conference a short while ago.

Tufton stated that 221 of the confirmed COVID-19 cases are linked to the Alorica call centre in Portmore, St Catherine.

Meanwhile, 11 more persons have recovered from the virus, bringing the total to 49.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the islandwide curfew has been extended, commencing at 6:00 p.m on Wednesday May 6, 2020 and ending at 6:00 a.m on Wednesday May 13.

Holness says the closure of bars, nightclubs, other places of amusements, beaches, rivers, waters and other attractions remain in place.

Physical distancing of six feet, the wearing of masks in public, stay-at-home order for elderly persons 70 years and older and gatherings of not more than ten persons will also remain in force until May 31.
