JCF distribute PSOJ COVID-19 food packages

Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force on Thursday, distributed more than 300 food packages to individuals and families impacted by COVID-19 in St. James, under the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ)-led COVID-19 Response Fund programme.

The initiative, a national response towards the mitigation of the effects of the global pandemic on the Jamaican population, focuses on health services and food security.

The police, assisted by volunteers from the Salvation Army, the Sandals Foundation and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, delivered the packages to communities in Canterbury and Mount Salem.

Superintendent Vernon Ellis, who led the first thrust, said “this partnership with the PSOJ and the other agencies further solidifies the JCF’s commitment to serve our communities, especially during this difficult time."

Acknowledging the role of the citizens, he added, “I want to thank the residents for their assistance in helping us to reach the most vulnerable among them and for the orderly manner in which they allowed this process to flow. We are stronger together and the JCF will continue to work with these partners and more communities across the island to carry them safely through this crisis.”

According to the JCF food distributions will continue tomorrow.
