The family of missing Portland fisherman Lendford 'Cushy' Noyan is planning to offer a reward of J$100,000 to anyone with credible information about his whereabouts.

Noyan, 26, was reported missing on February 6. Reports are that Noyan and three other men went fishing three days before, but he did not return.

His sister, Ketisha Downie, reported the matter to the police after the family did not hear from him. She believes that the police have been lethargic in its response, which has forced the family to become desperate.

"We are exploring all the options right now. We are contemplating about putting out a reward or hire a private investigator who would have the resources," Downie said via telephone. "There has been no information forthcoming."

One of the fishermen with whom Noyan ventured out, said that her brother had jumped overboard after the boat got into difficulties. But Downie does not believe this story. She also rejected the notion that her brother had problems in his personal and financial lives.

WAS ALWAYS WELCOMED HOME

"Cushy knew if he was meeting hard times in Manchioneal he could come back home (Old Harbour Bay). He knows that he has family members here and overseas that will never say no. My brother knows that I will give him my last. Him running away from problems has not even crossed my mind, because every time we spoke he said that he was good," she said.

When contacted for an update on the matter, the investigating officer told THE STAR that the police are pursuing several leads.

"Statements were recorded from them (the other fishermen) and the matter is proceeding. Investigations are ongoing," he said.
