Man of unsound mind throwing stones at cars
Residents of lower Waltham Park Road say they are being terrorised by a man who is allegedly of unsound mind.
The man, who residents say frequents the Chinese Cemetery, has been blamed for damaging at least two cars, and allegedly attacking one woman recently. Cab driver Osbourne Manning said the vehicle he uses to make a living was damaged by the man yesterday.
"Mi a drive taxi from 1991 and is the fuss supn like dis ever happen to me. Mi never involved in one accident or anything before," said Manning. "Mi cyah tell yuh how much dis a go cost fi fix it back 'cause a di owner a go deal wid it. But mi know say dis a go set mi back big time. Di amount of bills mi have pile up on mi already, mi cyah deal wid dis right now."
He added, "Mi have house, insurance and food bills fi pay every week. Right now, mi just wah get back on di road cause after wah gwan mi nah go have nutten fi now."
A resident, Cecil Ferguson, said that about 8 a.m. yesterday, he witnessed the man smashing one of the windows of the taxi.
' MI rush him'
"Mi stand up a watch weh him a go do. Him tek up a big stone and throw it ina di back window. So mi rush him cause mi did have a machete a clean wid but tru mi no wah get ina no trouble mi turn back and look fi a stone. But mi neighbours dem say mi fi lef him cause him a madman," he said. Ferguson believes the man smashed the front windshield some time earlier.
"We always get him out but him always find him way back. A just last week him box dung a woman weh a walk pass him because har bottom too big," said Ferguson.
It is also alleged that the man attempts to take the groceries from pedestrians. Manning said he has reported the matter to the Hunts Bay police.
"We are going to contact the health department as we normally do in a situation like this. We will visit the location, because we have no background information on the person. We don't have a name, we are only told that he has dreadlocks but that isn't enough. We will drive around the area until we can locate the person," a cop at the station told THE STAR.
