Dramatic video captured an 18-month-old girl being rescued after she floated nearly a mile out to sea off the coast of Tunisia in an inflatable tube.

It is believed that strong winds propelled the 18-month-old girl away from her family.

The family was reportedly enjoying a day on the beach Saturday in Kelibia, on the country’s northeast coast, when strong winds swept the girl away while her parents were “momentarily distracted,” a report said.

After realising their daughter was missing, the parents alerted authorities, who launched a rescue mission.

First responders, helped by volunteers, one on a jet ski, eventually located the child, who appeared distressed but otherwise unharmed.

Authorities also urged parents to be vigilant and not to take risks during expected weather changes in the area.
