Child advocate sickened by ‘Lick’ video involving children
"Abomination" is how children's advocate Betty-Ann Blaine has described a video of two small girls mimicking cunnilingus to Shenseea and Megan the Stallion's sexually explicit song Lick.
"This video was very short but I could not have watched it because I felt really sick to my stomach. I literally wanted to throw up. This is an abomination," she said.
In the 14-second video which was posted on TikTok, one of the girls, who appeared to be no older than eight years old, hoists her leg while the other child flicks her tongue in the direction of her private part as the song plays in the background. Both children were fully clothed. Some persons believe that the children were attempting the 'Lick Challenge' that is being promoted on Shenseea's social media page where adult participants show off their dance skills to the track's lyrics. Blaine blasted persons who see the video as pure amusement.
"There are persons who find this amusing and even posted it on TikTok because they think it is cute. They went ahead and circulated it. But may I remind the person who may have filmed it and those circulating that this is a crime," she said. Blaine said that she is once again calling on the Government to hold persons accountable for such actions. She also urged parents and caregivers to monitor the type of music and programmes that their children are consuming.
"I don't know how we are going to control social media as that is another monster. We need to find a way to link up with these platforms and ensure that they block these [types of] content. We do not want these videos to be circulated so we can protect the children. These kids are going to be damaged for life as this has gone viral," she said.
The Child Protection and Family Services Agency says it is also aware of the video and is working alongside the police to locate the children.
