Man desperate to find missing spouse
Jermaine Walker says that even though his babymother Angela Gayle has wandered away before over the years, he is extremely worried for her safety following the most recent occurrence.
According to a release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Gayle, who is of unsound mind, has been missing since December 17, 2021. Reports made to the Porus police are that about 4 p.m., Gayle was last seen in downtown Kingston, dressed in a multi-coloured blouse, blue shorts and a pair of blue slippers. Walker said that this is the longest she has ever been missing.
"From she missing from where her family is in Porus, none of them see her. Dem say she just walk out of the house when the grille was left open and nobody knows where she is now," said Walker. The 46-year-old said he has not seen his partner since April because he was locked up after money went missing from his home, allegedly taken by Gayle.
"The judge say I have to pay the consequences because it was my place and my babymother can't be found," he said. Walker said that while in lock up, Gayle went to live with her relatives in Porus, while their two young children remained with family friends. Since his release, Walker said he has been searching relentlessly for Gayle in Manchester and Kingston.
"They [police] put it out on their social media page and ask me to do the necessary things but right now I am on my face. I can't print any poster, so that's why I am here hoping the media can help while I am down on the streets looking," he said. "I have been trying with her over the years and I take good care of her. When I meet her I never know about her mental health condition but after a while it come up and I decided that I was going to stick by her. Me can't leave her like that, she is the mother of my children."
Walker said his efforts to have her admitted to Bellevue Hospital in Kingston proved futile as he was told her case was not as serious and she just needed to continue taking her medication.
The only other alternative Walker said would be to have her admitted to a private home, but he cannot afford it.
"To be honest, when I am around, I don't have a problem to look after her. The wig that you see her in is me make that wig and she wear it like when we going out and me treat her. But to know that she out there so long it make me 'fraid, because every turn you turn you hear say woman a dead and me can't find her. If I could get her into a home, somewhere safe, that would be good," he said. "She is in a serious state right now because she has the mental problem and based on what her family members recognise just before she went missing, was that she may have caught some disease while she went missing the last time. I am pleading with anyone who see her to just reach out."
