‘Move every stone’ - Jasmine Deen’s dad tells Donna-Lee’s mom not to give up
It has been two weeks since 24-year-old social media influencer Donna-Lee Donaldson disappeared without a trace.
Her loved ones, including her ailing mother Sophia Lugg, are beside themselves with grief. Sharing their pain is Lloyd Deen, father of missing visually impaired University of the West Indies (UWI) student Jasmine Deen. Having walked a similar road, Deen said he is encouraging Lugg not to give up and to leave no stones unturned until she receives answers.
"Anything you have to do to find your daughter, do it, because somebody out there know what happen to her. People will tell dem, enuh. Mother, don't give up on you pickney. Move every stone and look for her," he said.
Donaldson's case has sparked outrage across the island and there have been several protests by her loved ones who are demanding answers from the police about her whereabouts. Deen told THE STAR that he will be among the next group of protesters.
"Mi did plan to go to the last protest but something come up and mi never get the time. But mi a go a the next one because something have to be done. Just like me, her family need answers too," he said.
It has been a rough two years for Deen, whose daughter went missing on February 27, 2020. Like Donaldson, her disappearance sparked widespread public outcry and although there have been numerous searches, all efforts to find Jasmine have been futile. Deen, however, refuses to give up and continues to be on the lookout for her.
"A two year mi can't find my pickney enuh, and mi can't hear nothing about her. Two days and everybody forget 'bout you, enuh. Every single day mi think about my youth. Any time mi see a strange number a call mi I wonder if it's her. A nuff time mi a walk on the road and see people who resemble her and look if a she. All now mi can't believe mi can't find har. It hard bad," Deen said.
"Mi will never give up on my youth, ever. Every day mi a listen out fi hear something. We can't have we youth and dem missing suh and yuh nuh hear nothing at all," he added.
