Accused in shooting case nabbed at airport
A man who was allegedly among gunmen who were involved in a shooting spree in Palmers Cross, Clarendon was nabbed at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) on March 2.
Linval Thompson, 31, otherwise called 'Saskel' or 'Bryan', of Chateau District in May Pen, Clarendon was subsequently charged with wounding with intent, possession of prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, use of firearm to commit a felony, and robbery with aggravation.
Thompson's charges stemmed from a robbery at a party which left six people, including a police officer, nursing gunshot wounds on February 25. Thompson and another man entered the party area and robbed the organiser of $100,000 before firing indiscriminately at the crowd. The injured were taken to hospital where they were treated for gunshot wounds.
Thompson was arrested by detectives from the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime branch at the NMIA as he attempted to flee the country.
He was subsequently charged and is awaiting his court date being finalised.
