JCF concerned with cop’s controversial comments

June 17, 2024

The High Command of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said it views comments made by a gazetted member of the force at a recent meeting "with grave concern".

In a release, the JCF said it has taken note of the remarks made by the cop at a municipal corporation meeting.

"The statements made by the member run counter to the principles and model of stakeholder engagement that the JCF rigorously upholds. We consider these remarks to be reckless and not representative of the values and professional standards of the JCF," the High Command said. The entity said that it is currently reviewing the matter "with utmost seriousness".

"The member in question will face the High Command as we maintain our commitment to accountability and integrity within our ranks," the release stated.

"We assure the public and our stakeholders that the JCF remains steadfast in its mission to serve and protect with professionalism, respect, and dedication to fostering positive community relations."
