May 09, 2025

In three separate incidents today, four men have been shot and killed by the police in St Andrews and Westmoreland, the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has confirmed.

An illegal gun was reportedly seized in one of the incidents.

A total of 119 people have been killed by the police since the start of the year, according to the latest data from INDECOM.

One of the men, identified as Kemar Lewis, was killed during a reported confrontation with cops in the community of Salisbury Plain in St Andrew, according to police sources and residents.

Two others were killed during an incident along the Shooters Hill main road, in Bull Bay, also in St Andrew, while the fourth man was killed during an incident in Kings Valley in Grange Hill, Westmoreland, INDECOM said.

The other names have not yet been ascertained as investigators from the police oversight body are still at the scenes.

Residents claim that several children who were inside the house where Lewis was killed reported that cops sent them to a bathroom before gunshots were heard.

The police Corporate Communications Unit acknowledged that it was aware of the incidents and said details will be released soon.
