Spanish Town mayor to provide support to family of Kelsey Ferrigon
The grieving family of Kelsey Ferrigon who was tragically killed recently will receive support from the Spanish Town Mayor, Norman Scott. He says the Spanish Town Municipal Corporation will assist with burial arrangements and provide short-term relief.
"Certainly we will be assisting this family with the burial and whatever else we can do to cushion the kind of problem that they will face in the short term," Scott said. He added that he will be engaging with Minority Leader Theresa Turner-Flyn, who is also the councillor for the division, to coordinate the support.
Speaking ahead of the Prime Minister's visit to the family's home on Sunday, Mayor Scott also praised the security forces but emphasized the need for stronger community policing.
"From what I am gathering the alleged perpetrator is a member of this community and community policing would have mitigated this act," he stated.
Scott's comments echo growing calls for preventive policing strategies to address rising community-based crimes. The investigation into Kersley's death is ongoing.
