A St Catherine man who stabbed his brother with a piece of broken bottle inside the St Catherine Parish Court has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment at hard labour yesterday.

Accused is Durran Rose, a 29-year-old labourer of Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Rose's psychiatric report found that he was fit and mentally stable, as such his guilty plea to unlawful wounding was upheld.

Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle told the accused that without a previous conviction sentencing starts at 24 months imprisonment.

And that his guilty plead would take it to 18 months.

The injured brother begged the judge to be lenient on the accused.

Rose was then sentenced to 12 months in prison.

Facts are that about 12:30 p.m. on March 11, the siblings had finished a mediation session and was awaiting a result.

Rose attacked and stabbed his brother on his face and upper body.

He was arrested and subsequently charged by the police.
