Police in St Catherine fully active for Nomination Day
The police in the St Catherine North division are out in their numbers to ensure peace and safety for Nomination Day activities.
Head of the division, Senior Superintendent of Police Hopton Nicholson, states that there is a full deployment of personnel.
Nicholson says cops were briefed on their roles and responsibilities at today's exercise.
"We are in a state of readiness and since 7:45 a.m., we have deployed personnel to man all the centres within the division, and upon visiting, the members are fully alert, aware and ready," Nicholson said.
People's National Party standard-bearer for St Catherine Western Central Locksley Francis, who was nominated this morning, said he plans to unseat Jamaica Labour Party Member of Parliament Dr Christopher Tufton.
Tufton is scheduled to be nominated at 1:00 p.m.
