Three men have now been formally charged in connection with the Gordon Pen murder of a teacher, bringing a major breakthrough in the deadly ambush in the St Catherine community earlier this year.

Charged are Tyrick Fennell, otherwise called 'Six', a garbage collector of Palmers Cross, Clarendon; Wilber Edwards, 46, otherwise called 'Twin' and 'Rolex', of Lyssons, St Thomas; and 25-year-old Jevarne Swimmer, otherwise called 'Razor', also of Lyssons.

The trio has been charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, using a firearm to commit a scheduled offence, possession of a prohibited weapon, and being part of a criminal organisation.

Police in the St Catherine North Division confirmed that the men were charged on Thursday following question-and-answer sessions conducted in the presence of their attorneys.

The charges stem from the January 9 killing of 44-year-old Damion Dunn, a teacher and building consultant.

Investigators allege that about 7:52 p.m., Dunn was driving his 2017 Suzuki Grand Vitara along Gordon Boulevard in Gordon Pen when he was intercepted by the accused men travelling in a Toyota Axio motor car.

Police allege that Swimmer and Fennell exited the vehicle armed with handguns and opened fire at Dunn while he sat behind the steering wheel. The men reportedly re-entered the vehicle, which was allegedly driven away by Edwards.

Dunn was assisted to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police said the men were apprehended following investigations into the fatal shooting.
