Maverley/Hughenden storm into KSAFA Super League mid-season final

Maverley/Hughenden FC continued their impressive form when they tagged Shortwood United FC 3-0 in the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA)/Charley's J. B. Rum Super League at Maverley Park last Sunday.

For Maverley/Hughenden, Travis Muir, Loxley Thompson, and Watne Williams were the scorers as they chalked up a sixth win from six games to move on to 18 points in Zone 'A'. The latest win eased the Lijasu Simms-coached Maverley/Hughenden into the mid-season final scheduled for February 19 at the Constant Spring Sports Complex, starting at 7 p.m.

In another Zone 'A' encounter, Maxfield Park edged Real Mona 1-0 at Maxfield Park and moved into second position on 10 points, while August Town and Barbican played to a 1-1 draw at UWI Bowl.

With two sets of games remaining in the first round, Maverley/Hughenden leads Zone 'A' by eight points and cannot be overtaken at the end of the first round.

In Zone 'B', it is a tight battle to see who will face runaway leaders Maverley/Hughenden in the midseason final for a trophy and $100,000 winning incentive.

Browns Town remained on top in Zone 'B', following a 1-0 win against Bull Bay at Bull Pen. The win moved Browns Town on to 12 points from six games, ahead of Rae Town (8), Santos (7), in the race for a place in the final.

The competition continues with six games on Saturday.
