Top stars on track today
Several national track and field stars are set to be in action today in Kingston at the Camperdown Classic and out west at the Milo Western Relays.
Yohan Blake who missed most of last season due to injury is expected to turn out with his Racers teammates at the Camperdown Classic which starts at 8:30 a.m. at the National Stadium.
The other Racers stars who will compete today include the likes of Edino Steele, Zharnell Hughes, Michael O'Hara and Warren Weir. Blake is expected to compete in the 400m which starts at 4:30 p.m.
In Montego Bay it should be a day of great excitement and fierce competition as the high powered MVP Track Club and their top athletes will be on show in relay events.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Elaine Thompson and and Stephanie McPherson are the leading females from the MVP camp while among the males Nesta Carter and Julian Forte should lead the way.
Sprintech has a formidable female squad with the likes of Sherone Simpson, Aneisha McLaughlin-Whilby, Jura Levy and Gayon Evans carrying the flag for the Maurice Wilson-coached unit.
There should also be fireworks in the high school category as Edwin Allen High, Holmwood Technical and Hydel High should lock horns in the girls' events.
Among the males, all eyes will be on St. Elizabeth Technical following their fine performances at Western Championships last Saturday with the red hot sprinter Nigel Ellis leading the way.
