Fowler-Reid heads squad for England Tests

FOLLOWING dismal performances in their past two overseas assignments in New Zealand and Australia, Jamaica's Sunshine Girls will be hoping to redeem themselves when they depart the island later this month to take on world-ranked number three England in a three-Test series in England.

Jamaicans, led by Jhaniele Fowler-Reid, will be hoping for better performances.

Fowler-Reid, who missed the past two overseas assignments, has been drafted to shore up the shooting area. Accompanying her will be Shantal Slater, Shanice Beckford and Hasana Williams.

Veteran Paula Thompson has come out of retirement to strengthen the centre court, where she will be supported by Khadijah Williams, Adean Thomas and Carlalee Tingling. At the defending end, there will be the vastly experience duo of Malysha Kelly and Vangelle Williams, alongside Stacian Facey and Shamera Sterling.

President of Netball Jamaica, Dr Paula Daley-Morris, is pleased with the selection of the team going on this tour.

"We do have a stronger and well-rounded unit from that which went to New Zealand. We are happy to have Fowler-Reid back in the squad and with her experience we expect better coordination with Slater and Beckford. We had some problems in the centre court and this time around we expect better results than what obtain in New Zealand," she said.

The team will depart the island on November 23 and return on December 5.
