Fowler-Reid leads Mico charge

Sunshine Girl Jhaniele Fowler-Reid warmed up for the England friendly series later this month with a brilliant performance inside the UWI Indoor Court as defending Senior Intercollegiate Netball champions Mico A swept by UWI 46-28 in their top of the table clash on Saturday.

With A close contested was expected between the two unbeaten teams.

However Mico, with five national senior players in their line-up were too strong for their opponents.

With Fowler-Reid bang on target early, Mico raced to a quick 11-6 lead after the first quarter.

Despite UWI showing some more fight in the second quarter through goalshooter, Shamara Nelson, goal attack Rebekkah Robinson and wing attack Thristina Harwood, Mico continued to dominate as Dixon gave Fowler-Reid great help inside the circle.

Mico led 20-12 at half time.

For the remainder of the game it was all Mico, especially in the third quarter where they outscored their opponent 17-1 to lead 37-13.

UWI had their best showing in the final quarter outscoring the defending champions 15-9.

Fowler-Reid top scored with 30 goals from 34 attempts. Dixon had 12 from 14 and Slater, had four from five.

For UWI, Nelson top scored with 22 from 28.

The semi-finals are slated for Saturday at the GC Foster College court.
